About CDRH and SSS

About CDRH

The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) is a part of FDA. CDRH is responsible for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical devices and protecting consumers against harmful man-made radiation from medical, occupational, and consumer products. MedSun is one piece of an overall post-market surveillance system designed to provide data to FDA on medical device problems.

About SSS

FDA has contracted Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS) to manage the MedSun pilot program. SSS has specialized in technical, scientific and research support services in health-related areas for more than 25 years. SSS adheres to the strictest research standards and has conducted research for the Federal government, as well as highly regarded universities, foundations, and private enterprises.
